February 2023 – No. FD22P0652 Child Return Order of the Family Division of the High Court of England and Wales – Return of the child to his mother in Greece from England under the 1980 Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction after a year of “hostage-taking” by his father in England
On 2 February 2023, the High Court of Justice – Family Division of England and Wales came to decide on an application made by the mother, my client, for the return of her minor son, aged eight years old, from England, where he had been illegally removed by his father without her consent, to Greece, where she was living. The Court, finding that the mother, contrary to the father’s allegations, was not dangerous to the child, dismissed his objection and granted the mother’s application, ordering the same day that he be returned with her to Greece. I myself supported the mother in her application and acting as her legal representative in Greece I achieved, in conjunction with the London law firm Dawson Cornwell, the return of the child.
